A400M begins its first major test in cold Sweden - Airbus A400M Begins cold weather trials in Sweden

As announced in 2010, the main challenges for 2011 for the A400M are testing cold weather, hot big tests, tests at high altitudes as well as takeoffs and landings on unpaved strips .

is in this context that the second A400M nicknamed Grizzly 2 landed in Kiruna, northern Sweden for a period of four days in order to make his first major cold-scale tests.

The crew has met with temperatures around -21 ° C and has successfully completed all test points of the first cold test, mainly focused on the automation of the A400M.

This is just the first of several tests in extreme cold temperatures even lower in Kiruna, Sweden and Canada this winter and also during the winter 2012.

Congratulations to the test team.

As I posted Earlier in the blog in 2010, main challenges for Airbus A400M for 2011 will be cold weather trials, hot weather trials, high altitude operating tests as well as take off and landings on unprepared runways.

Airbus Military second A400M development aircraft - Grizzly 2 - visited Kiruna in northern Sweden for four days of cold weather trials at the beginning of February.

The team experienced temperatures down to -21°C and successfully achieved all the planned test points during the program that focused on the powerplants.

This test is only the first of many tests to come in more extreme temperatures at Kiruna in Sweden and also in Canada this winter and next.

Congratulation to all the flight tests team!
