This is a busy month for Airbus.
A press conference on 17 January 2010 and the results on the major challenges and milestones for 2011, advertisements for the iconic A320NEO and orders coming from the side airlines. If this were not enough, now that Louis Welsh, CEO of EADS, we made the announcement of the launch of construction of the successor to the A320 in 2017-2018 for entry into service in 2025.
This project should represent an investment of around EUR 10 billion for Airbus.
In view of recent successes announced by Airbus on its A320NEO and pressure from companies including Boeing fetishes Southwest and Ryanair, Boeing needs to respond quickly with the choice of his re-engine Boeing 737 or start replacing the Boeing 737.
Start replacing the Boeing 737 would restore him a competitive advantage but also significantly increases the risk. Indeed, the Boeing 787 is still not out of the turmoil and weighs heavily on the accounts of Boeing.
Moreover, Boeing has still not back needed on new composite materials and the replacement of the 737 will be further integrating composites.
EADS's announcement, while not a surprise as it merely confirms the dates already announced by Airbus on the successor to his bestselling book, further pressure on its direct competitor, but also sets the bar for new entrants in this segment.
Airbus, with the planned launch of the A350 in 2013, has over ten years of operating experience that will build the successor to the A320.
Hats off to this communication to point named.
This is a busy month for Airbus as well as "for Boeing. Airbus has
icts press conference on January 17th 2011 on ITS performance in 2010 and has Emphasized new record for 2010 delivery of 510 aircraft ". Tom Enders Stated That 2011 Will Be a crucial year for the program: For the assembly Of The A350, pour la ramp up Of The A380, pour la production Successful Start Of The A400M and Its civil type certification, for The Delivery Of The A330 MRTT Customers to 3 & the KC-X tanker competition, and pour la A320NEO, that has booked a strong order book.
If all this wasn't sufficient enough, Louis Gallois, CEO of EADS, confirmed on January 24th that Airbus will start the all new A320 replacement in 2017-2018 for an Entry into Service in 2025.
The all new A320 replacement will represent an investment for Airbus around 10 billions Euros.
Following the recent success of the Airbus A320NEO and due to the price of oil rising, US airlines like Southwest as well as European airline, Ryanair, adds pressure on Boeing to develop a more fuel-efficient narrow-body aircraft to compete with Bombardier C-Series and Airbus A320NEO, both of which promise big fuel savings. Boeing has the choice between a new re-engined Boeing 737 or an all new Boeing 737 replacement.
Boeing favors the second option, stating that customers want something new. The second option will definitely give Boeing a competitive advantage over Airbus. However, the Boeing 787 is still an issue and Boeing is struggling to have it back on track and weights heavily on its financial statement.
An all new 737 replacement means a new aircraft with even more composites technology and Boeing is still struggling with this technology.
EADS announcement is not at all a surprise but it only confirms what was previously said to its customers. We will build an all new Airbus A320 by 2017-18 with an Entry into service in 2025. This will give Airbus 10 years to be familiar with composites technology.
This also adds All the pressure is competitor. We Will replace o best selling aircraft With An All New A320 With new technology.
Well done!
